In a group of four, Dean, Bradley, Daniel and Wilbert investigated the potential of innovative technologies that improve workflow and social structure within Culture Lab, a collection of shared office spaces in a single building at Newcastle University. They present CultureTag, a location tagging system, which allows members of the Lab to have their locations marked using mobile phones and Bluetooth-enabled beacon computers. Explorative qualitative fieldwork discovered a number of problems within the Lab regarding its physical setting and navigation. CultureTag minimises these problems and offers further applications, which are a messaging function and an empty room finder. More about this research project can be found here.
